In 2015 I had an awful year, I put weight on, I got really depressed, I felt like I needed a change. I did some thinking, and I decided that I was going to bring some positivity into my life. I had sat in the dark for too long, so I decided to contact Pete and get on the road to compete in powerlifting. I knew Pete did transformations, but what I didn’t think I was ever going to be one of them.

When I started my journey, I was really confused, but Pete always was there to answer any of my questions. He never doubted my abilities; he never told me that I couldn’t do anything. We worked on helping me apply every type of food into my daily life, seriously who wouldn’t want to eat pizza on a “diet.” There were a lot of times I wanted to give up, but quitting wasn’t an option. I was seeing my body in a whole new light. I had dropped 40 pounds, I had gained SO MUCH strength, and I was the happiest I have ever been. The switch had flipped. I went from unhappy and overweight, to happy and strong. I am an optimist, and Pete reaffirmed what I knew, and that was anything can happen if you just put the work in.

The week of my meet, I was anxious, I didn’t have any idea what to think or do. I was talking to Pete on how to handle it. He told me everything I needed to hear, and trust me “calm down” was NOT in his vocabulary. That’s like telling a pregnant woman to not eat the chocolate, don’t try it, it doesn’t turn out well. I walked into that gym with my support system, with Pete giving me words of encouragement every step of the way. I took 2nd in my weight class. I ended with a 737 total; hit an all-time PR of 319 pound deadlift, and a 275 pound squat. I felt so charged, so alive, and I couldn’t have done it without his guidance. I worked with Pete following my meet for another year; we worked on maintaining my weight, and keeping a positive outlook on food.

I am very grateful for the experience I have had, I will continue to be a “flexible dieter,” and I will continue to strive for greatness. Pete showed me how to transform a body sitting at 205 pounds, and turn it into a 175 pound athlete. I can’t thank you enough for the experience Pete, and I mean that. Thank you for changing my life. I will never be the same person; I will continue to work with Pete on any endeavor I choose in the future.
